Drying Mint

We have started drying our mint.  Mint tea is something we enjoy all year long.  This is a mixture of wild mint that grows down by our creek and peppermint and spearmint that we grow in flower pots. Mint leaves are the mintiest right before they flower, but we will be drying all summer long until it is gone. 🙂

We wash the mint and lay it on towels to dry.  We pat the mint with another towel until it is completely dry.

Next we pick off all the individual leaves and place them on cookie sheets.  We dry the leaves in the oven at 170º for 2 hours.  It makes the house smell nice and minty.

We store our dried leaves in a canning  jar.  So easy and so good!

  1. You know we love mint tea!! I want to try yours. Maybe we could have a glass the next time we come over. Whatever happened to us coming over and you all coming over here? We definitely need to get together soon. We miss you quys. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  2. I have never thought about doing this. We have mint that grows wild here as well and we usually call it a pesky weed, but this is a great idea. I will have to give this a try.

  3. I love mint anything. I bet that sure does a tummy good. We don’t have any wild mint around here but I think I need to plant some. Hope you have a great day.
